The Old Willow 2008 I saw this scene in passing one night. I came back and took a photo of it in the daytime. I prefer to draw from life when ever possible. When I do draw from one of my photos I draw in the same method in which I draw from life. I sit the pic up like it is a scene I would find looking out a window. The composition was created when I took the pic. The camera is a view finder. Drawing from a photograph is a poor way to train in comparison to drawing from life. But an experienced artist can create from either method equally. One of the things I enjoy from life drawing is the elements you contend with. Thank you Anne and Kim. I do strive for simplicity...Not always easy. I remeber a quote once that said "Any darn fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make something simple." I just can't remember who said it...
